Hundreds circle R.A. Long Park in ‘No Kings’ protest of Trump policies
Saturday’s March was one of thousands held across the nation and was by far the largest local demonstration against the president’s immigration and other actions
Throngs of protesters marched five or more abreast and completely circled Longview’s Civic Center Saturday as part of a nationwide demonstration against the policies of President Donald Trump.
One of the main paths leading to the gazebo at the center of R.A. Memorial Park was lined with faux gravestones that carried messages such as “ I died homeless and hungry,” “I died fighting fascism,” and “I died because of pseudo science.”
“No Kings” rallies were planned in all 50 states and communities large and small. They were aimed at a myriad of Trump policies and actions including immigration, erosion of the rule of law and the president’s insatiable appetite for power.
The Longview protest was peaceful. About five Trump supporters stood across the street but did not engage with the larger crowd.

It is so satisfying to see hundreds of people show up to protest and resist the Trump administration’s policies. We march every two weeks and there are new atrocities every time. This is not acceptable to most people. Our community is paying attention.
Did you hear any crowd size estimate? I would guess MANY hundreds. Largest public protest in Longview in my 60+ years of history here.
