So how's come MGP won? Got what appears to be significant crossover votes. She spoke to the real reason we now have Trump, that is, folks were and are concerned, feel real angst for things economic in their lives, real insecurity about their financial well being, and their economic future.

And she spoke to the issue of folks feeling unsafe. Being hyper worried about crime in general, and the complex issue of illegals. Folks just have become unsettled by what they hear, read, even see as they go about their daily lives. For many reasons, folks just don't feel safe.

These two issues locally and nationally outweighed all the other issues Dems thought were winning ideas and MGP figured that out and spoke to these concerns. Constantly and with clarity. Always about jobs, guns and securing the border. The latter being two parts of the same issue.

When she spoke to working folks, her words were taken as sincere and given her background, credible. Working folk got she actually had gotten her hands dirty, knows what work is and what it takes to just pay the bills. And you know what, folks kinda liked that about her.

And I think she had a understanding of the unease people feel. The perception that evil lurks everywhere, that there is danger as we simply go about living.

Her opponent may have addressed these issues similarly, but somehow his msg didn't resonate. Didn't have the credibility or perhaps there is some other intangible reason which kept folks from believing, buying into his msg.

The bottom line, she got elected and I think it was because she got the importance of jobs, guns and the border which made it ok for folks to cross the line. She may have a "D" next to her name, but she talked to the "R"s as well and frankly, better even though her opponent tried hard to push these issues.

I really don't think the work she put in this year can be underestimated.

I saw her speak several times this year, at all kinds of gatherings. More often than not she was rushing off to another engagement shortly after speaking, despite it being late.

She was clearly exhausted, but just as clearly indefatigable. Her message was always appropriate for the gathering she was at, well written, and solidly delivered though there couldn't possibly be enough hours in a day for her to rehearse all those speeches.

I'm of the opinion that she simply out worked a Green Beret, which speaks volumes to anyone who has ever known a Green beret.
