Tank explosion causes fatalities, injuries at Nippon Dynawave plant in Longview
Officials say there is no threat to surroiunding residential areas
Here is a statement put out by Nippon Dynawave and the city of Longview about this morning’s industrial accident.
Emergency responders remain on scene at Nippon Dynawave Packaging, 3401 Industrial Way in Longview, following the rupture of a tank containing white liquor that occurred at approximately 7:15 a.m. Tuesday morning, May 26.
Preliminary information indicates the rupture resulted in multiple critical injuries. Patients were transported to area hospitals in Longview and Vancouver for treatment.
Officials can also confirm fatalities related to the incident. The scene remains in the recovery phase as emergency responders continue operations.
No identifying information regarding injured or deceased individuals will be released at this time pending notification of family members.
Responding agencies continue coordinating closely with facility personnel and partner agencies as the investigation and recovery efforts continue.
At this time, officials state there is no immediate threat to the surrounding community and ask that the public stay clear of the area to allow emergency personnel to safely continue operations.
