I do not own a weapon but if I did, I'd like to think I would be responsible enough to know where it was at ALL times. The lazy attitude about gun safety kills children every single day in this country. I hope that Mr. Wilson takes this lapse in responsibility to look at his attitude toward gun safety. That would be a good ending to this story.
Same here. A friend who carried a gun every day of his working life (armored car service) echoes this sentiment. I’ve never owned a gun, but I learned how to handle them as a youth.
I spoke with Senator Wilson yesterday after a legislative briefing in Longview. When I expressed my concern for his irresponsible behavior (ie, taking a handgun though airport security) he insisted that TSA was to blame for not catching it on the x-ray (ranting about border security). Wilson laughed/joked about his vacation mishap with his buds at the meeting; quite obviously treating it lightly. Media at the time stated that his passport was confiscated and he was required to stay in HK until his hearing. I assumed he was free, but 'detained'. Wilson told me he spent 4 days in jail. I'm curious...
that's disappointing but seems the attitude so many take "wasn't my fault". I don't know but I think representing the American People in government should be a higher calling requiring taking responsibility for your actions. Just another one to vote out of office I guess, so many so little time...
A primary argument that is used by the pro gun movement is that we do not need more gun laws, just greater enforcement of existing laws. I'm sure Senator Wilson has espoused this belief. Does he now insist that gun laws pertaining to him be enforced, or will he allow his position of privilege to protect him from prosecution?

Thank you for the follow up Andre. It is discouraging and disappointing to me how casual intelligent people are with lethal weapons.
