Acting City ManagerJim Duscha declines to apply, saying he wants to enjoy a retirement that was interrupted since he stepped in to help run the city in March
“But a good city manager will generally fix any dysfunction on a city council.” Must be able to herd cats and referee bullfights while riding a unicycle blindfolded in a hurricane.
I am no hero, but I have no staff except that my wife, a first rate journalist herself, proofreads my columns and occasionally offers advice. I just stand for common sense and honesty.
My first reaction was that I was amazed that this many people would want to dive into the toxic swamp of LV politics. However, it is hoped that the $34K consultant can weed out people who are out of work elsewhere and just want a job that likely has a golden parachute if it doesn't work out.
Weeeeeell here goes, another NOMB opining on things LV.
But, and sorry, just can't help myself. First, I would highly recommend all candidates for the CM job review everything Andre has written as to recent events in the sanctified chambers of LV City gov. In fact it ought to be a requirement to even have ones application accepted. Sure TDN did some pretty good work on the "Circus" at LV City Hall. But shucks folks, and bless his heart, 'Ol Andre ripped the meat right off the bone as we used to say down south. Heck, he didn't just tear off the bandage exposing the wound, he did a deep dive into the "Meat Cleaver" actions that caused the hurt in the first place.
But here's me being honest. While I got zero investment in things LV, I must admit the past year or so has provided me some real humor, even produced outright guffaws and knee slapping belly laughs.
Unfortunately, I might have taken notice that really good people were hurt. That lots of time will be needed to mend the wounds, restore resident confidence. Pretty shallow of me to not think about that.
But on the upside, the coming selection of a person with the ability to put the house in order, shut the door on the past, and put LV back on track gonna give me lots of entertainment and keep me tuned in.
P.S. to all applying. When you, whoever you are signs that contract, make darn sure you got a clause in it that gives you a "Parachute". You might just find a situation that requires a "Bail out" as things are crash diving and there's no possible recovery.

How many staff do you have working for you, Andre? Because if its zero, then you are a hero.
