Longview's interim city manager pens blistering letter directed at three council members who opposed his appointment; private investigator finds no evidence of wrongdoing by councilors
Thanks, Andre, for doing the heavy lifting on this story. It is startling to think any professional would consider a 9 page single spaced diatribe appropriate. Next time maybe try a pause, then hit delete instead of send!
Folks, this isn’t complicated. I know “gaslighting” is an overused term nowadays, but that’s what is happening here. Jim Duscha bristling at being called a “hatchet man” is nothing more than a hit dog hollering. The simple fact of the matter ~is~ his return to public life was acting as the usurper in a veritable conspiracy to “axe” Kris Swanson, which ultimately succeeded, badly.
Upon being cordially asked why he was at the February 8th council meeting (because it was so out of the ordinary to see him there), Jim Duscha openly informed Chief Huhta (and others) he was there to be appointed City Manager. It doesn’t matter that the “surprise” gambit failed that night. Everything that has happened since February 8th has been predicated (and marred) by that initial corrupt act.
If Mr. Duscha wants to (again) be known as an honest and honorable man, he could always come clean and resign. The choice is his to do the right thing. But until he does, the shoe fits, and he will never have the legitimacy (or respect) he seeks or might otherwise be owed. It really is a shame.
How remarkable not to mention blessed we are to have someone like Andre to "Shine the light on the dark recesses of Government". Damn fine work always not to mention insightful, articulate, and just outright says what needs to be said.
Now for a side bar. Since I don't live in LV, thankfully, I got no right to voice an opinion about you folks city or how it's governed except the antics provide lots of entertainment.
But I can, as it's personal, opine on your Mayor.
Shortly after his election, he appeared before my City Council, Kelso, and ridiculed me publicly for how I sat on the dais during sessions. Apparently he objected to my posture---slouched as it were.
Now my posture was somehow his concern, I don't understand. But here's the fact. I had just undergone my 4th surgery to resolve issues with my back from injuries incurred during my service in Nam. In fact I am disabled. The price I paid for wearing the uniform I guess.
But here's the rub. I have asked Mayor Spencer multiple times to publicly apologize for what he said to me, during session, very publicly. To date, he has not.
A whispered, "Jim, I didn't know" isn't sufficient.

He’s not so tough, is he? Bit of a cry baby.

So it goes.
The galling thing is that he has the audacity to cry “foul,” as if he’s the innocent victim in all this. We know the truth.

There's a lot he doesn't know folks.
And that's your Mayor.
His response to the evaluation shows he is not suited to the job. It’s too accusing and whiny for a professional.
