I particularly enjoy your takes on local politics. And I marvel at the amount of reporting you’re doing for many of these columns. I don’t find it jarring when you mix news with opinion. You’re providing an invaluable service to the community. Thank you!
Your writing, whether news or opinion, fill a tremendous void in our community. I moved here 45 years ago, planning to stay a year working at The Daily News. I left the paper 20 years later, but stayed in the community. Your experience has become more vital as the quality of “our newspaper” has fallen. Newspapers everywhere are experiencing the same problems, nothing unique here. Reliable local news and information are needed more, not less today. Ted Natt once said “The newspaper’s main job is to survive.”
I enjoy reading all of your columns but the ones I find most valuable are when you report on local issues such as the county commissioners/health board. The DN doesn't cover these, though several times it has written about the issues you raised several days later. And the DN tends to take the commissioners at their word rather than getting comments from third parties. I realize that this is more work for you, back to meeting coverage! Keep up the good work.
It’s a privilege to find you in my inbox. Having excellent reporting and opinion on local issues has made me more informed than ever before, which is a huge assist for local voting decisions.
I enjoy your opinions because they make me think and sometimes discuss. If I disagree with anything, it challenges me to consider the reason.
I enjoy your work tremendously. And have the utmost respect for your opinion and experiences. It would help me if your opinion pieces are labeled as such.
I don’t always agree but you pause me to think.
I think you do invaluable service for the community.

Thanks Tom. But is there anything you would change or add to the column?
I can’t really think of anything to change. It’s all good to me!

I like the eclectic mix and local focus. No significant changes needed from my perspective.
