Halvorson was at the meeting, sat in the back corner of the room. Didn’t defend his position on fluoride even when given an opportunity to speak. Said absolutely nothing during the meeting. Is this all for show?
It’s incredulous to me that this council does not recognize the overwhelming support from the medical, dental and Longview public for our water fluoridation program. Again yesterday, not a single dentist or medical doctor spoke against water fluoridation. I counted at least three physicians at the Beacon Hill meeting who voiced support for the safety and efficacy of water fluoridation. They also commented on its cost- $14k per year which is 31 CENTS PER PERSON per year.
Now we are faced with a referendum which may or may not include water customers who are not within City limits. The Democratic thing to do would be to include them but what would it cost the city to have three separate ballots? It’s nuts. This Council would be wise to drop this issue and move on. They already held a public hearing where support for water fluoridation was abundantly clear.

Thanks, Andre. You captured the meeting as well as the background around this issue beautifully. .

Might be on life support. November is coming.
